Liane Llewellyn Hickling has stepped down from her roles as club Chair as she will be heading off travelling the antipodes (Thanks for all your efforts and have fun on your trip!)
This is a key role at the club so we have co-opted Al Benson to the club committee as Chair. Al is well known in the club as an active coach and former committee member (Welcome back Al). He can be contacted via the chair@halifaxcanoe.org.uk email address.
The club is run by the volunteer committee, and we also have a couple of other vacant committee role and we would would love to hear from any members interested and willing to step into the following roles to help run the club:
- Marketing – helping promote the club and its activities to existing and potential new members (like posting this on the website)
- Welfare – looking after safeguarding of our members and ensuring we keep our procedures up to date
- Volunteering – co-ordinating volunteering tasks

Also speak to us if you are interested in being involved, but not in those roles as we may be able to shuffle round roles!
Usually committee post are elected at each year’s AGM – for a 2 year term with half the roles appointed each year. However, when there are vacancies we can co-opt people to roles and then confirm them at the next AGM (Sat 4th Feb 2023 by the way).
