The Wharfe weekender 2018. January 12th to 14th

12/01/2018 @ 5:00 pm - 14/01/2018 @ 5:00 pm

The Wharfe weekender 2018. January 12th to 14th

Halifax Canoe Club proudly presents The Wharfe weekender – 2 nights and 2 days of good company and great paddling in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales or maybe further afield. Depending on river levels we will be looking at the local environment firstly but be prepared to head north if needed in the pursuit of water .  We will be the proverbial Rainchasers !

How much is going to cost ?

A deposit of £20.00 secures your bunk ( see small print below).  I`m aiming to keep the entire weekend under £45.00 per person for all group meals, electricity, gas etc.

What`s the plan ?

Arrival, anytime after 5.00pm on Friday night, find your allocated bunk, ditch your kit  and enjoy stimulating conversation. Feed yourself before arrival too or cater for yourself in the kitchen. There is no group meal on Friday night.

Saturday,  Breakfast then Paddle – Simple.  You will need packed lunch for Saturday and Sunday.  In the evening we will have a group meal ( plans are afoot for something a bit different to celebrate our successful days paddle).

Sunday,   Breakfast, tidy up , paddle , go home .

What do I need to bring ?

Along with your usual paddling kit,  Wet suits or Dry suits definitely needed –  no shorts, its going to be cold. Change of clothing, cash,  . Sleeping bag, Pillow , toiletries etc.

The small print.

This is important.  its a first come, first serve basis for the hostel and there is only 20 bunks on offer but we would love Day paddlers to come and  join us through the weekend.

Only email`s will be accepted to secure your bunk, you will then be emailed back with Bank details for the deposit and a bunk number. The deposit of £20 to be paid within 7 days of your email or your bunk goes back up for availability.

Through the weekend you will be expected to contribute to the good running of the weekend . A rota will be created for washing up, cooking, tidying away, car shuttles etc.  May sound a bit harsh but we want the weekend to be a success and if everyone does a little we all get a lot out it.

The hostel has ground rules which need adhering to at all times, please refer to their website for clarification.

Please specify on your email if your vegetarian, vegan etc.

Many thanks
