Below are details of forthcoming activities click on the link or contact the organiser for more information.

  • Club Events: Events on the list with a Dark Blue background are club events where coaching / leading is either provided by club coaches in accordance with Club policies and guidelines or by another provider operating to BC guidance.
  • Other paddling opportunities: These are listed to provide information to members on a wider range of paddling opportunities. These include racing and tour events, as well as informal paddling opportunities arranged by members. The Club accepts no responsibility for these activities. Participants and/or parents/guardians should satisfy themselves that these activities are appropriate for them / their children, and that appropriate coaching / leadership / safety cover is provided.

Pool Safety Award Training

3 October @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Pool Safety Award Training

Club Pool Sessions will be starting again in October – more details will be on the website etc shortly.

Once again we are running training and assessment to get more people through the BCU Lifeguards Pool Endorsement Award.  We need people with this award as we must have someone with this qualifcation to provide ‘lifeguard’ cover on the poolside to run our sessions.  The more people we have with this award the better so we can share the role out.

The training and assessment we are doing is for the BCU Lifeguards Pool Endorsement Awardsee detailed syllabus to see what is involved. As you will see much of the content is lifesaving/ rescues, pool hazards and procedures, and CPR with little kayak based content, however it is the relevant award for our needs.

To be able to do this Award you must meet the following pre-requisites:

  • having completed an BC FSRT course
  • Having a valid First Aid Certificate (min 8hrs)
  • be over 16
  • be able to swim 50m

The dates of the training/assessment are:

  • Wednesday 25th Sept 7-9pm – dry session at the club
  • Thursday 26th Sept 8-10pm – at Salendine Nook Pool
  • Thursday 3rd Oct 8-10pm – at Salendine Nook Pool – this session will include the assessment for the Award

You need to attend all three sessions.

There are 8 places on this course – if there are more people interested I can set up another course to alongside the pool sessions.

Please can you let me know if you would like to do this award, and confirm that you are able to attend the sessions – email Les Ford
