A quick blast over the M62 takes us to the Burrs Country Park in Bury for a paddle on the easy white water available there. The actual paddle is relatively short, so we may run this a couple of times, spend time sliding down the BIG Weir – worth the journey on its own ! Of course we may have to go to the ski jump too!! Sound like to much fun for one trip!
Parents and family are more than welcome to come and spectate, walk the dog, take photos etc
Who is it aimed at ? Paddlers who have completed their Beginner sessions with us over the Summer months and are happy paddling the white water section at the Club. If you are not sure whether you are up to this trip, speak to the organiser for the trip, or a club coach.
What do you need to bring ? Full paddling kit for winter i.e. wetsuit/drysuits needed (no shorts!), sturdy boots or trainers you don’t mind getting wet, Helmet, Bouyancy aid, spray deck (these can be sorted and sourced at the club before we set off). Full change of clothing, money, packed lunch and drink.
Help needed ? We will need Car drivers, lift givers and a team of experienced paddlers to help out on the day with safety and guidance.
Where do we meet: At the club at 9am to load up / organise car shares. If you plan to travel separately contact the organiser for details of where and when to meet us near the river.
How do I register ? Email to stating if you have transport, can offer lifts/boat transport or need a lift and what club kit you need to borrow (boat, paddle etc.
