An important date for your diaries:
Sunday September 8th, the Halifax Canoe Club “Washburn Cruise”
This is the highlight of the Club’s event calendar, held at the River Washburn near Harrogate (https://bit.ly/2MXE9JB). The Washburn is a dam-release river (so we’re guaranteed good levels!) suitable for “confident beginners” and above. If you don’t feel you’re up to that level, not to worry – we’ll be taking the Topo Duo two person kayak along, so an experienced coach can take you for a paddle on one of the most exciting rivers in the area! The Washburn is set in lovely woodland, so even if you don’t fancy paddling yourself, come along and watch the other paddlers for a bit, then go for a walk in the surrounding countryside. Bring the rest of the family too!
We’ll be asking for volunteers in the coming week or so, to help out with jobs such as catering, car park directing and the like, but please put the date (Sunday September 8th) in your diaries now!
With best wishes,
Al Benson, James Freeman and Michael Scholefield (HXCC Washburn Cruise organisers)
