Downstream from the Club it is possible to paddle on to Elland and Brighouse (and beyond)\u0026nbsp;with access back to the canal below the weir at Standard Wire Works or at Copley Rugby Club, Elland and Brighouse.\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThere are long flat stretches between the rapids and weirs on the river. This can be access from the marina by the Moorings\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e Using the canal and the river enables circular trips from Sowerby Bridge\u0026nbsp;\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBoth canals are managed by Canal \u0026 River Trust and using them\u0026nbsp;requires a Waterways License – if you are a Paddle UK\u0026nbsp;Member your membership includes a\u0026nbsp;license. You should have this with you in case you are asked. As a Paddle UK\u0026nbsp;affiliated club, we have a few licenses that members can use (contact the Access \u0026 Environment Officer).\u003cbr\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003ePoints to Note:\u003c/em\u003e\u003c/strong\u003e\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cul\u003e\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eLocks are dangerous\u003c/strong\u003e – don’t canoe in or near them, walk around them.\u003c/li\u003e\u003cli\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eWeir can be dangerous\u003c/strong\u003e and should only be run by experience paddlers or those supervised by experienced coaches / paddlers – seek advice from the Club’s Officers or Coaches if you are unsure.\u003c/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eGive way to canal boats – generally you should keep to the left – but remember you can use shallower water than canal boats.\u003c/li\u003e\u003cli\u003eRespect other water user – be courteous and polite when approaching people fishing, respect requests to pass on a particular side of the river/canal. Follow a straight course in single file as you pass.
