This is ideal for teaching beginners and is used in coaching session to develop skills, play games etc.\u0026nbsp;About ½ a mile upstream\u0026nbsp;there is a short easy rapid that provides a good place for introducing white water skills. Just above is\u0026nbsp;Puzzle Weir, which is in the porocess of collapsing so can be an awkward or easy run through depending on water levels and current state of collapse! (check before you paddle!)\u0026nbsp;\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is also possible to paddle on the Rochdale Canal and Calder \u0026 Hebble Navigation which meet in Sowerby Bridge. These allow ‘out and back’ trips on the river and canal in either upstream or downstream of the club. This gives us a reasonably large expanse of water to paddle, and sitting high on the hills can offer some challenging conditions at times to test your skills – but equally can offer a lovelly calm lake to explore.\u0026nbsp;\u003c/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eIt is suitable for various activities such as\u0026nbsp;open canoeing, SUP, kayaking and\u0026nbsp;safety courses, and is well used by our ‘land-locked’ sea kayak paddlers. We have a container on site and plan to have additional equipment available on site for members to use.
