Important Update

We are sorry for the inconvenience this is going to cause. This is due to the campsite at Rhosneger being disrespectful to us as a group; so we have taken the executive decision to change. We have know doubt this will be problematic and could incur extra cost for some family groups for which we apologise, and ask you understand our situation with such short notice to organise a new campsite suitable to everybody's needs. One positive, the new campsite we have selected is looking good with access to a group field, and we hope we are welcomed as a large group and we can make this our new annual long weekend trip from the club, we will see.

Issues: Unfortunately the new campsite requires a large deposit at short notice to protect any losses. Therefore you will need to pay approx £115 per family group this is non negotiable. The price is also the minimum that can be paid whether your staying one night or 6 over the weekend. This will make it possibly unaffordable for those considering dropping in for a couple of nights however you may be able to source another campsite. Anglesey is not that big and mobile phones are great.

The campsite is well managed so you can not just turn up as usual and pitch where you please, so we ask you to support the owner who is following the H&S legislation. There may be some more issues with a group of our size such as BBQs and general fun we have, including noise levels after 10.30hrs, as we usually finish chit chatting about 11. So we need to measure our activities within the expectations of the campsite as we have done before when we change campsites and learn the boundaries. We think this campsite is in the perfect location for the beach and paddling, even when the Easter weekend falls in March when we can go get cold in the sea , even if it is pouring with rain and dash back to the camping units to dry.

http://www.lligwybeachcampsite.co.uk/ Please visit the website, all the info is there. Including contact numbers for booking.

What do you need to do?

1. Over the next two weeks you need to contact the campsite directly and book yourselves in with your individual needs (ie electric), mentioning you are with Debbie Stopford ( Halifax Canoe Club ) group. Obvious arranging the deposits to confirm your pitch etc. The owner needs to know the size of the caravans and motor homes etc. as she is concerned about the fire regulations.
2. Please confirm with me that you have booked in, so we know who is going etc.

In  addition:

I remind you that the canoe club trailer is going and you need to chat with Matthew Walker, who as kindly offered to take the trailer again for us.

Please call us if you have any issues and we will see if there is any flexibility or resolution.

Kind Regards

—-------------------------

The HXCC annual pilgrimage to Anglesey will be with us soon. Here is the plan.

Following feedback from last year, we will be staying at Bodfan Farm, Rhosineiger again this year.  www.bodfanfarm.co.uk

Please can you let Debbie or me know if you are planning to join the HXCC trip, urgently if electric is required. 01422 367337 or 07920 401178. Please note that if you book, we pay your deposit on your behalf and we ask you make good if you can not attend for any reason.

If you are new to the club, have limited gear or just need to chat call us, we can help. It’s all about family friendly joining in. See previous trip reports on the club website.

Easter Sunday egg hunt is always a highlight for our younger members, and for the adults it is the awning sessions and BBQs. I suppose we should mention the high percentage of rubber duck moments for paddlers alike. Lets hope hot weather and a little surf.

Dates this year are 22nd to 25th April for the Bank Holiday weekend and many of us stay for the rest of the week.

Great News - Matthew Walker has kindly offered to drag the HXCC trailer around Angelsey for us.

Here is the plan! If you wish to use this facility you simply give Matt £5 per boat on the trailer, double if you want to put an open  canoe on. This is a contribution for fuel - dragging the trailer eats it up. We trust that you pay Matt in Timely manner.

For now just let me or Debbie know if you wish to take advantage of this and we will co-ordinate.
