Kobarid to Volarje (grade 1-
While a few of us got on the water by the campsite on Sunday afternoon, this was our first real trip, so we opted for an easy one so everyone could paddle and get used to the speed of the water and take in the scenery while getting over the trip down to Slovenia.

Having all bought our river permits (8 Euros for the week), we got on at the campsite
for a short section of grade 2/3 (below) down to below the spectacular Napoleon Bridge

This was a good section that became a regular playground during the week and afforded some good spot for those that wanted to jump of the rocks rather than paddle!
Heading down river gave us a good 10km of fast moving grade 1 and 2 through mainly gravely rapids. There was the occasional small play wave and a nice big gravel bank that was just asking for us to slide down it!
The surrounding scenery was fantastic and we often found ourselves floating along
backwards to take in the mountain views. So a great warm up, but it left most of
wanting to find something bigger to paddle . . .
