The continuing story of our Scottish Adventure. . .       Read part 1

Tuesday

Awe - grade 2/3. A very chilly start - minus 2.5 and very low levels mean the lower Orchy is out, but the compensation flow out of the barrage at Loch Awe is just enough to scrape down.

Les' YMCA inspired warm up routine falls flat - at least the sun is out

Too cold to get changed - minus 2.5 degrees in Glen Orchy does nothing to inspire any one

Source to sea - paddling from the source of the river at the barrage out onto Loch Etive

It happens to us all - Les empties out after a swim while the group try to stifle there laughter.

Wednesday

Tay - grade 1/2(3). Now we were getting desperate for water, so a 2 hour drive across country to the river Tay, finishing at the slalom site at 'Tully'. The Tay is a big river, draining a big loch. Five days after any really rain it was surprisingly high, so provided a great introduction to big volume paddling

It doesn't look too bad from here - looking down he Tully slalom course from the top

Getting used to the bigger volume water on the upper section of the Tay

Meanwhile Sarah sits in the sun waiting to pick up the pieces at the bottom of the rapid

Ok it's bigger than it looks Mark fights through the big waves

Meanwhile dad plays a visit to one of the stoppers at the top of the course

Nick takes it all in his stride - despite the waves being bigger than his boat

Read on for Thursday and Friday - part 3
