Winter is coming and the club’s pool sessions will soon be under way, but for those hardy enough to brave the cold, the outdoor paddling continues.

Sessions at the Club

As something new this winter we are going to run a monthly session at the Club, usually on the first Sunday of the month (but check the events list to confirm the dates) so have been named Club Sunday's, and will run from 10am till about 12noon.

These are for Club members who want to keep paddling over the winter, but can't make the river trips. There will be coaches around to help anyone that wants some coaching or encouraging, but these won't be formal coached classes like we run over the winter. However, these will not be beginners sessions! You need to competent paddling on the river at the Club and have warm kit to paddle in.

Wednesdays - Slalom session are also running through the winter on Wednesday evenings. (Speak to Les Ford)

Thursdays - Although not a coached session, if you have your own gear there are usually people paddling on a Thursday evening - speak to John Stopford ( 01422 367337 or email for details.

Winter River Trips

We have a series of river trips over the winter. Those that have been confirmed are listed here, but others may be added so keep checking on the events page for the latest details.

As we need to load up, drive to river, sort boats and cars out and paddle the river in time to be off the river before dark, we need to make an early start each day. Unless otherwise stated we will be meeting at the club to load up at 8am! Each trip will be a full day, so you'll need lunch and hot drink with you.

We will also need a consent form / parents permission for any under 18's that want to come on a trip. Click here to get a consent form to print off

If you plan to come on a trip, you must let the listed contact know that you are coming in advance. We need to know who to expect so we can make sure we have enough coaches available and so we know those coming are up to doing the trip (and make sure we wait for you). On some trips numbers can be limited and plans may change at a late stage (due to water levels etc), so we might need to get hold of you to let you know. If you don't speak to the organiser in advance they don't have to take you on the trip! (to be clear - in advance means a few days so we have chance to arrange extra coaches etc as necessary!!)

If you are not sure whether you are up to the particular trip, speak to the contact listed for that trip, who will be able to advise you further.
