It started with a random phone call. BBC Countryfile were going to be filming in the Pennines and could they film the canoe club to link the historic use of water power to modern leisure use. We said ok, the came for a reccie and we promised to try and get a few people along in boats.

Heavy rain over the weekend nearly ruined the plans and with the river almost too high,to paddle it narrowed down the numbers able to paddle, and certainly ruled out taking Julia Bradbury down the course - although given the temperature and biting wind, she may not have been too disappointed.
