Racing Round Up

A bit quite at the start of the month, but with a hectic finish! I’ve been C1-ing at Fairnilee, and then Nathan, Gill and I where racing at Grandtully - Nathan had a really good run on Sunday, Gill had good results both day, one being here best every in Div 1, and the least said about mine the better as far as I’m concerned.

There were also club padlders at Bala Mill on the bank holiday weekend - but I’ve not seen any results yet.

West Tanfield Slalom - 25th & 26th September

As most of you know, West Tanfield is a big slalom event, with ots of people from the club racing - hopefully we can top last year’s maga turn out, get a few more people promoted and have a good social weekend too.

If you haven’t been before its a great beginners event, with camping on site and loads of people. Click here for more info.  I’m starting to collatre a list of who is going and what boat they want  - so please let me know if you are coming asap. If needed I can take the trailer up there.

Flowing for Gold

If you haven’t already seen it take a look at the first run of water down the 2012 Olympic course - looks fab. It is due to be open by the end of the year!! So we might need a trip down to paddle it?

Clean Run Chart

More hits have been going on this and some corrections for runs I’d missed. But can anyone catch Brian? An updated chart will be up as soon as I have the results from Bala Mill.

Slalom Training

Wednesday nights - Training is still on running on a Wednesday night for all that want it.

Also we will be doing a session at the Washburn on Wed 8th Sept for those that need to be moving on to bigger water in their slalom boats - meet there at 6pm - please let me know if you are planning to come as I can only take a limited number of people.

More Start Slalom - A forth ‘start slalom’ course will be running on Thursday evenings in September in the run up to the West Tanfield event.

Slalom Coach Training

On Sat 20th November Scott Bradley and Russ Smith will be coming to the Club to run a Foundation Slalom Coaching Module at the Club. This is an ‘add on’ for existing coaches to extend their skills and knowledge to coaching slalom. While it is for coaches, if there is space I am sure that club slalom paddlers could sit in too. Let me know if you are interested.  We’ll also need some Guinea pig paddlers to be coached so again let me know if you are interested.

On a similar vain in October Scott will also be coming to run 2 evening workshops for coaches, but which may also be of interest to slalom paddlers.

Tues 19th - Fitness for Paddlesports Foundation module (date will be changing to avoid a clash with the pool sessions)

Tues 26th -  Performance Planning for Paddlesports

Again let me know if you are interested

That’s all for now - see you at the river!
