Adrian promoted at Oughtibridge
Congratulations to Adrian Bairstowe on gaining promotion to Div 3 on the Saturday
at Oughtibridge with quick performance that put him well ahead of the competition.
This is our first promotion of the year -
Other racing news:
Brain and Roger were also at Oughtibridge with rumours of clean runs -
Four of us were at Matlock with mixed results. In K1, Gill was just short of a result that would line her up for promotion, while Les actually finished both races in his C1!
Wagon Lane Div 3/4 Slalom -
Other than our own slaloms this event at Bingley is the nearest one our club, so it would be great to have a big turn out of paddlers at the event. Those on the current start slalom event are coming to race and I know several others are planning coming too, so why not join us?
For existing slalom paddlers, as this is on easy water, it is also the ideal chance
for you to have a go at a different class (C1 or C2) -
If you are planning on coming please can you let me know so I can organises who is using which boat, and arrange to take the trailer across if we need it.
Other upcoming races within easy reach . . .

More Start Slalom -
Canoe 2012 Day -
This is canoe England national project to promote the Olympic disciplines of the sport in the run up to London 2012. The idea is to try and encourage people who have never tried slalom to give it a go. On Sun 23rd May we are hosting one of these events at the club which is aimed at any paddlers in the region that fancy giving slalom a go before going to a race.
Anyone who is available to help out on the day would be most welcome whether providing safety, encouragement or coaching people. Hopefully a spin off will be that we encourage some additional entries for our June slalom weekend. Please let me know if you are available.
Slalom Coaching
I’m still taking names of anyone interested in doing the new Slalom coaching foundation module (no date yet for when this will be this) and also if anyone is interested in helping out on the start slalom course please let me know.
That’s all for now -
