Club Awards - Following the AGM came Awards, or the ‘HXCC Oscars’ with nearly as much glam and glitz as the low key version over in LA the previous weekend. Plus a few interludes details some of the club’s activities over the year. And the winners were . . .

And finally a note from Kevin Whittington, one of the winners:

At the grand old age of 46, I won my first ever trophy on Saturday. Much to my absolute amazement, I was nominated for, and awarded the Most Improved Paddler at the club. In my gobsmacked state I was unable to articulate my thanks to the fantastic coaches who persevered with me over the summer on the BCU 2 Star course. From a very unpromising start where I went for a swim on the very first session I was moulded by Sarah, Roger and Victoria into a moderately competent paddler. Many thanks to the three of you for your hard work and dedication and to Cliff for assessing the 2 Star course.

While I am in full appreciative flow I would also like to thank Les for the regular gems of wisdom he fired my way as he powered up and down the river past the 2 Star coaching sessions, Stoppy for teaching me how to have fun on the river and to Mandy for forgiving me for giving her a black eye on the pool sessions.

And finally I would like to thank all the members of the club for the welcome and support you have given to Tom and I in our first full year at the club.

Kevin Whittington.

Minutes of AGM - coming soon

The Chair praised the Club's coaches for the their continued massive contribution to the Club and for bringing greater structure to the Club's river sessions. He also thanked member for their efforts in running events at the Club, encouraging more members to get involved in these in the coming year.

Treasurers Report - The formal treasurers report was tabled and approved. The only change to the membership fees this year is the addition of a £2 fee for adults who are not members of the BCU - this is to cover the fee that the club is charged through our BCU affiliation.

Full minutes of the meeting will be here soon
