Thursday
- Set off, campervan full to overflowing.
- Met Paul & Nic at McDonalds, had lunch, plus carrot sticks, ??
- Arrived at campsite, set Camp, had Spag Bol for tea. Got fresh went to bed, dreaming
of big surf.
Friday
- Got up had breakfast etc.
- Decided Cable Bay was the probably on. Arrived at Cable Bay, got changed, went paddling.
Dream came true, Surfs Up, some good waves.
- All the time others HXCC members kept arriving and paddling.
- The young people were crab catching in the rock pools or body boarding.
- 6hrs later got off, surfer rash starting to bite. All the youngsters played well
together. Got back had BBQ, there was a rumour there was a splinter cell of the HXCC??
Had a few drinks to help me sleep from all the excitement of the surf.
Saturday
- Got up had breakfast.
- Gathered the young people from miles away, why do they decide to explore 10 mins
before we set off.
- Decided to surf Rhosigner, after reports that Kate got trashed at another beach.
Arrived at Rhosnieger to see Twybill surf a clean wave, awesome. Got changed like
the wind to join them, much to the annoyance of Debbie.
- Surfs up again, really good clean waves.
- Jet Skis everywhere, where were you Gaz?
- 6hr session of surfing, Day 2 of surf this cannot continue.
- Got back to campsite, after request we decided to eat out, what a mistake 2.5hrs
after ordering we ate. Beer was good, especially in “Rob A” awning.
- The two Robs being on form as usual.
Sunday
- Got up had breakfast. Easter Egg hunt for the Young People.
- Decided to chance our luck at Rhosnieger again. What a great decision, Surfs Up again.
- Another 6hrs session, what a wave Ian got, he looked so small against the point break.
I don’t think I have seen Matt, Les, Pete & Lawrence smile so much, at one with the
waves. Hey Rob S can spin too, apparently.
- Den broke his paddle on the reef. Michael, Anneka and Roger pushed themselves on
the waves. For many it was a new experience and I hope you enjoyed.
- Got back to campsite for BBQ.
- What a session that turned out to be. I’m glad you all have broad shoulders.
- Tina was in tears; Matt was in tears from the pain?? Did anybody understand what
Rob A was saying.
- And yes Rob S can spin but Rob A -well give up. Roger tried to intervene in a high
pitch voice but was unsuccessful. I don’t think I have laughed so much neither. What
a night and thanks everyone.
Monday
- Got up had breakfast.
- Watched most of the group pack up and leave. The rest of us were heading for four-mile
bridge. A clear, warm and sunny day.
- The young and inexperienced paddlers went for a paddle with Debbie.
- The rest of the group played on the jet of water. Eddies caught the unwary.
- I surfed the double sit on top with Tony, and we swam repeatedly. Then we did the
daft one as always, four adults on the sit on top, well we got across the flow without
capsize but could we return!!
- Tried to stand on sit on and failed.
- The young Stoppies, played the wave with grace as usual, makes me sick.
- James and me paddle the jet of water in a Rubber Dinghy, awesome.
- Got back and BBQ’ed again, Rob A really worried about the next Thursday session.
Well done everyone what a great weekend, lots of swims, learning and fun. The best
surf I have ever had on my trips to Anglesea. If you have never done this trip, talk
to me and I’ll let you know more, its great for all, especially the young people
who were extremely well behaved and played well together. Another successful family
orientated trip with a bit of adrenaline for those seek it.
