Youth Freestyle Win for JamesBring out the jellies and floppy hats the HXCC was at the national youth freestyle competition at Mile End Mill on 14th April. We had five representatives from our club and for a national event. The event consisted of Coaching in the morning from some of the best freestylers out there and competition in the afternoon with paddlers showing there moves on the three waves and a boater cross race down the river. Congratulations to James Stopford who won the under 12’s category. Other club paddlers competing were Ian Stopford (making the overall top 10) and Adam Thornton in the under 15’s and Tom Hustler in the under 18’s. There is some work to do to win overall but we have a start and we have the talent. Well Done What is the BCU Youth Freestyle Series? This year the Youth Freestyle Series is even bigger and better than last year with more prizes, more coaching and it's more than just freestyle! The Series consists of 5 events across the UK. The main focus of the events is fun freestyle competition, but there is also free coaching available on freestyle (there are limited places available for coaching so you will need to book early).
