Competition NEW!
|
Proposed Membership Fee Increases After much deliberation the committee has decided that at the AGM we will recommend to the membership an increase in membership and storage fees. Over the last couple of years the club has struggled financially, trying to maintain and improve the clubhouse facilities and most recently attempting to improve the white water course. Through careful management we have ensured that we will reach the end of the financial year in credit but what little reserve monies we had are now spent. The committee feel that we need to make a small increase in membership fees to enable the club to continue to operate effectively, to rebuild the reserves and to fund continuing developments including looking again at the white water course. At the AGM the committee will recommend that fees increase as follows:
To put this into context this is the first increase in fees in the last three years and still makes our membership rates more than competitive in relation to other clubs. Members are entitled to free participation in training courses and access to the variety of club weekends, river trips and events and in addition have access to club equipment including boats. This was not a decision reached easily, the committee felt strongly that we did not want to exclude members by charging fees that could not be met, but equally we felt that we had a responsibility to ensure that the club remains on a sound financial footing and that we can continue to provide high quality paddling opportunities. Ultimately this is a decision for the membership as a whole and will be taken at the AGM – the reason for including the details in the Newsletter is so that members have time to ask questions or raise concerns before the meeting. If you want to do this please feel free to contact myself or any of the other committee members. Thanks Mark Limmer, Chair |
