Halifax Canoe Club hold the Sport England Clubmark Award and are a BCU Top Community Club

Halifax Canoe Club AGM Round-Up

The chair praised the Club's coaches for the their continued massive contribution to the Club and for bringing greater structure to the Club's river sessions. He also thanked member for their efforts in running events at the Club, encouraging more members to get involved in these in the coming year.

Treasurers report - The formal treasurers report was tabled and approved. 

The meeting also approved the proposed increase in membership fees. These have been necessary to ensure that the club remains in a health financial situation for the coming year and to restore reserves that have been deleted by additional expenditure during the past year. From April, Membership fees will be as follows:

  • Individual Membership           £40.00

  • Family Membership                £65.00.

Election of Officers - The following people were elected (or re-elected) to the Club's Committee:

  • Vice Chair - Anita Brain
  • Secretary - Shamim Lindsay
  • Competition - Les Ford
  • Youth - Co-ordinator - Sarah Davis 

  • Access and Environment - Roger Blanchard

  • Events - Sarah Ford

  • Marketing - Mandy Spry

  • Equipment - Simon Spencer

Club Awards - following the AGM the new Chair got straight into action presenting out the Club's Annual Awards as follows:

  • Highest ranked paddler - Les Ford
  • Highest ranked lady - Roberta Davis
  • Most Improved Junior - Ben Thwaites
  • Most Improved Female - Mandy Spry
  • Most Improved Paddler - Adrian Ward
  • Most Improved Playboater - James Stopford
  • Best Beginner - Richard Smith
  • Biggest Contribution to the Club - The Catering Team
  • Rubber Duck Award - Jonathon Toothill

Social - as ever, big thank you to all those who brought contributions to the buffet and help to set up and clear away. The new feature this year was the fancy dress - well done to all who made the effort.
