Competition NEW!
| Sowerby Bridge Division 3/4 Slalom7th & 8th June 2008General Information If this is your first visit to Sowerby Bridge, I
hope you feel welcomed and enjoy yourself enough to want to come back again. If
it’s a repeat visit then you must have enjoyed it the last time! Important changes to the river - A significant change at Sowerby Bridge for this event is that the river has moved!! The white water course was remodeled last summer (thanks to a large digger) . The winter water levels (the river rose to 30cm below the top of the arch on county bridge in January!) have move a few things, but the drops are still more gentle and slalom boat friendly than they were this time last year. For those old enough to remember, I am told it its back to how the river looked when the course was first built. One key change to the river it that in low water you'll probably want to think twice about running the weir drop above the slalom course. Visit the White Water Course section of our website for more information. Please try to send entries in before the day. As we usually receive only a few entries before the weekend, a full start list will be posted on the day. Our
catering is of a high standard (although we are still waiting for Michelin
stars). Food and drink will be available both days in our clubhouse. We have
changing rooms with showers and toilets. Camping is available at Rough Hey
Wood, Triangle – please see the enclosed sheet for details. Unfortunately,
Sowerby Bridge is not a crime free zone so please be careful with your
possessions and cars. You are strongly advised not to leave valuable in the
changing rooms - give them to your supporters or valuables can be left with control for safekeeping. Safety
during practice runs is your own responsibility although if you have a
particularly nervous paddler, please speak to control and we’ll try to buddy
them up with a safe pair of hands. Safety rules during the competition are as in
the Slalom Yearbook. Please read and follow the safety signs, they are there for
everyone’s protection. After 10.00am we will have
safety boats on the water and practice will be full runs only to
avoid congestion – it’ll improve your fitness as well! Since
we are on a residential site, we ask that you respect the needs of residents.
Parking spaces within the mill complex are all allocated to residents, so
please do not park within the mill complex. There is ample parking in
Sowerby Bridge, including a large pay & display car park behind B&M
supermarket (formerly Kwiksave) –
please ask at control if you need directions. You can come into the mill to drop
off boats, but must move your vehicle to a car park straight away. Click
