Paddling on the river Calder at Sowerby BridgeHalifax Canoe Club FAQ's - for more information on the club and how you can start canoeing with the club.

We are an active and family orientated canoe club based on the River Calder in Sowerby Bridge, Halifax. Club paddlers can often be seen playing on the white water course at the Club.

We run regular activities throughout the year for all levels of abilities including courses for beginners, improvers and advanced paddlers, swimming pool sessions and coaching on both flat and white water at the club.

Kayaking is the main activity in the club, including flat and white water paddling, playboating (freestyle) and slalom. We also do open canoe paddling, surfing and more . . .

A club session on the riverThe club also runs regular day and weekend trips to paddle other rivers across the country, go surfing every Easter at Anglesey, and have even ventured as far as Slovenia to go paddling!

We run slalom competitions and training at the club. Paddlers from the club take part in freestyle, slalom, wild water racing and other events across the country.
