The
great thing about the new access to the Tryweryn (you can paddle the lower river
whenever there is a release) is that you don't have to go on the tour weekends
which used to be very busy. So with that in mind we headed of to North Wales for
the day.
The
keenies had headed over the previous night for more play time at the centre on
the Sunday morning. But by eleven the rest of us were there and ready to go,
with the HXCC paparazzi and video crew in close attendance. The centre section
had a few jellyfishes - Emma first, followed by Tom.
After
a quick bite to eat and rescuing some-one from the grippy stopper at Chapel
Falls, we set off down the easier lower river.
With
a good release on the river we set of from the top of the course, crashing down
the drops with the A couple
of swims and one broken paddle later we arrived at the end of the white water
course.
The
lower section is a pleasant run, interspersed with some good grade III providing
a good test for those who joined after the top section. The camera crews were
waiting for us on the bank as we reached Bala Mill Falls.
After
inspecting (and watching a few people get it wrong) we returned to our boats to
run the drop. All those opting to run the fall made it down, a crucial role just
above the drop saving Paul's blushes.
After
regrouping, and a bit of a playwe made the short paddle on to Bala and the end of an excellent
trip.
