Bradford
& Bingley Slalom
Sunday 19th October
A
small contingent from the club made the short trip over to Wagon Lane, Bingley
for the last Division 4 Slalom of the year.
Although
this seemed to be the day when summer seemed to decide that it over, the still
wasn't a lot of water in the river - but never mind there was enough to paddle.
After
the end of the first runs the team were well placed. The Stopfords were leading
the field, with Ian just ahead of his brother (cheered on by John who was
shouting himself hoarse from the bank). And Matthew Walker was lying just a
couple of places back but still in conventional.
The
second runs turned things around a bit, with James nipping to take first from
Ian, but with both gaining promotion to Division 3 - where they'll have to race
their dad. Sadly, Matthew was pushed down a couple of places, missing out on
promotion, but with a creditable performance that earned him first J16 prize.
And finally, Les Ford came from near hypothermia on his judging position to take
the judges prize.
All
in all, a good day - rather cold, but a nice trophy haul for the club's
youngsters.
